There were many woods used in this game table set. This is one of our “zebra chairs”, so called because of the zebra striping effect on the arm supports. We were experimenting with lamination of contrasting woods and didn’t really think about how the stripes that would appear after turning or cutting on a curve. The table top and chair seats are bubinga with a chess board of inlaid holly and ebony. The legs of the table and chairs are padouk. The back of the chairs are made of thinly sliced bubinga and holly which we bent around a form. The lumbar support is holly. |
